NO-Oslo: railway engineering services
Summary
Hell-Værnes, deputy engineering design manager/sub project manager.
The stretch from Hell to Værnes does not have a favourable track solution,
the bridge of Stjørdalselva is old with major maintenance costs and the
tracks are partly bad. These conditions are the reason for the low speed
along large parts of the stretch.
It is assumed that the project will be carried out in phases with checks
and a decision on the continuation of the next phase being carried out in
the transition between the phases. The starting point is continuous
execution, but this is subject to continuation in accordance with the
detailed plan and current financing/grants.
The planning and execution of temporary installations and technical phases
will be very important in the detail planning work. The project is
relatively complicated but many of the challenges can be solved with good
phase planning based on previous experiences in equivalent projects.
The aim of the project:
— Journey time; reduce delays, increase speed,
— Frequency and capacity; prepare for increased capacity and frequency to
Værnes,
— Safety, comfort; optimise the track plan and universal design of Hell
station.
The project is situated in Nord-Trøndelag just south of Værnes airport and
close to the E6. The planning site area is limited from the north side by
Gevingåsen tunnel past Hell station and Værnes stop to a culvert under the
taxiway at Værnes airport and the stretch along the Meråker railway to the
old bridge for the E6. The site stretch along the Nordland railway is
approx. 3 km and for the Meråker railway approx. 0.5 km. The furthest
signals will be established outside the site stretch.
The engineering design work consists of:
— Two consultant contracts,
— Detailed plan,
— Construction schedule,
— Tender documents for the professions,
— Substructure,
— Superstructure,
— Signal,
— Low voltage,
— Bridge,
— Tele.
