Company description
Pražská strojírna a.s. (Prague Engineering Works Co.Inc.) has a long tradition in mechanical engineering production. The City Council bought the "Prazská akciová spoleènost" (Prague Joint-Stock Co.) factory in 1912 and its associated maintenance and repair activities for the Prague public transit system. Production of rail constructions increased over the needs of Dopravní podnik hl.m. Prahy, a.s. (Prague Public Transit Co.Inc.) which lead to a decision to establish a separate join-stock company called "Pražská strojírna a.s." on 1 April,1994.
This Company not only opens a new era of engineering works but as well it links up with the experience of fifty years production of rail constructions. It is the only plant in the Czech Republic being able to fulfil in a complex way all the inevitable needs for construction of modern tramway and light rail systems.
The main products including development and manufacturing of track components, points systems and tramway turnouts for a urban public transport. The complete service includes fully fabricated track modules including accessories such as: turnouts heating blocks, automated point system motor, track drainage system, and others.
Pražská strojírna a.s. is delivering its products not only to the Prague Public Transit, which is its main customer, but also to other public transit companies in Czech republic. In past few years have increased an export to international markets to Poland, Germany, Bulgaria, Australia, Russia, Italy, Estonia, Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and others countries as well.
In 1997 the company was successful in obtaining Certificate of Quality Standards ISO 9001 in Pražská strojírna a.s.
