Company description
MOTOR JIKOV, a joint stock company, is an important South Bohemian engineering factory. It follows more than one-hundred-year-long tradition of engineering production started by company "První jihoceská továrna na stroje a stavbu mlýnu, Julius Škrdlant a spol." (The First South Bohemian Machine Factory and Mill Constructor, Julius Škrdlant and Co.), established in 1899. Under the name "Union, akciová strojírna a slévárna" (Union, Joint Stock Machine-Works and Foundry) it operated also shortly after 1945. The word "MOTOR" has been a part of its name since 1948. The most important production and sale articles have always been grey cast-iron, industrial motors and other sophisticated engineering products.
At the present the company manufactures and sells components and parts of automobiles, machines and equipment of small agricultural mechanization and cleaning machines.
Auto division has its workplace in Nové Hrady, where components for fuel systems are produced, and in Sobeslav, where components for passive safety systems are produced.
MZM and TNT divisions operate in Vodnany and Ceské Budejovice. Their main products are lawn movers with drum and rotary systems of mowing, selected assortment of adapters for these means of mechanization and cleaning machines.
In the field of automobile industry the customers are German companies; in the field of agricultural mechanization the company delivers its products to the markets in Slovakia, Poland and Hungary apart from the domestic customers. The exclusive purchaser of cleaning
machines is company TENNANT. MOTOR JIKOV has been certified since 1996 in accordance with ISO 9001; in 1999 it gained a certificate in accordance with VDA 6.1, and in 2003 it gained certificates in accordance with ISO 9001: 2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002. At the present company MOTOR JIKOV has 160 employees.
After 1995 the company established MOTOR JIKOV GROUP by connecting its original companies and newly integrated ones, which consists of six South Bohemian engineering and foundry joint-stock companies. The Group has approx. 1,200 employees
and turnover amounting to CZK 1.2 bil. (2003). It participates significantly in foreign investment inflow to the region. The principle areas of business: Accessories and components for passenger cars and trucks, die casting from aluminium and zinc alloys, casting of grey cast iron and ductile cast iron, special machine tools, assembling equipment, moulds for metal and plastic injection moulding, riveting tools, small-sized agricultural mechanisation, and cleaning machines.
