Company description

The original production programme of MZ opened in 1907, was manufacturing pitch - forks and carrying axles. The production involved the grey cast iron foundry, forgery mill and the machining of castings and forgings. In 1912 the range of production was extended by the manufacture of malleable cast iron castings and in 1913 by production of steel castings that were intended exclusively for external customers. The production of fittings - to date we are the sole producer of these in the Czech Republic - started in 1922. As the first in Czechoslovakia MZ started the development and in 1959 also began the production of ductile cast iron and present MZ is the largest producer in this area in the Czech Republic.
The combination of long experience and tradition guarantees a high quality of production. As an indication of this high quality and reliability of ductile cast iron and fittings MZ was awarded the certificate ISO 9002 in 1994 and 1996 respectively - the first commercial foundry in the Czech Republic so honoured. As has already been outlined the basic range comprises fittings, castings from ductile and malleable cast iron, forgings and flanges. Many foreign customers have shown great interest in these products and we export extensively to Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, France and Holland. In comparison with previous years when exports were entirely to Eastern Europe, MZ now exports more than 50 % of its production within the European Union.

Products

Fitting plant is principally responsible for the production of connecting parts of pipe lines, especially of fittings made of malleable cast iron as per EN 10 242 (CSN EN 10242) and casting of malleable, grey ductile and prospectively white cast iron.

Fitting plant has its own galvanising shop, foundry and machining shop.

Foundry
Foundry produces approximately 9 000 tons of castings p.a. with maximal weight up to 6 kg per piece.

Melting shop is equipped with a midfrequency crucible furnace with capacity of 6 tons produced by company JUNKER provided with upkeeping foreheart Realistic.

Chemical composition of melted iron is checked with spectrometer LECO.

Production of moulds is realised in shop equipped with three automatic moulding lines AFL WG with high nominate pressure.

Casting process is achieved by means of a FOMET- inductionally heated casting device

Cores are produced by method CRONING.

The production process is finalised by heat treatment in continuous malleablizing furnaces with neutral atmosphere.

Fitting shop
Single production operations are completed within the following workshops: machining shop, galvanising shop, finishing shop, packing room and despatch.

Machining shop
Produces on single purpose machines with high productivity approximately 6 000 tons of fittings p.a.

Demands of customers on machining of different castings are ensured by certified contracted partners in accordance with documentation.

Hot dip galvanising
Galvanising shop is equipped with devices enabling the galvanising of fittings either hooked on or in baskets. Both technologies are determined for galvanising of fittings and small castings.
