Company description
The company LOSTR a.s. has been maintaining the reach tradition, which has been dated since 1873, when there had been built from decision of Imperial-Royal Austrian-Hungarian state railway the repair plant for railway vehicles in Louny.
The development of the repair plant after World War II. was affected by a great change in structure of railway vehicle repairs. In 1950 there were left off with the repairs of coaches and the free capacity were used for the repairs of wagons. The next turning point in the development was the year 1971. There closed for the CSD repair plant in the year the era of repairs of steam locomotives and it was begun in the free made area with the production of heavy and atypical steel constructions and plants.
There followed a reorganization, through which was renamend the CSD repair plant to "ŽOS-železnicní opravny a strojírny" (Railway repair and machinery plant) and it was incorporated to the company of "Railway repair industry". In that time the production programm comprises in 95% the repairs of wagons for CSD (Czechoslowak state railway) and the residual 5% the repairs of private wagons and production of atypical plants.
The great break came naturally after 1989. It was decided in the time about privatizing of the company Railway repair industry. That is why it was opened on 6.6.1992 the company LOSTR s.r.o. by eight natural persons, which set the target to privatize the plant ŽOS Louny. The plant ŽOS Louny was taken out from CSD on 1.9.1992, passed over to the company LOSTR s.r.o. and changed its name to LOUNSKÉ STROJÍRNY spol. s r.o.

LOSTR a.s. is a company operating on the fields:
new building of railway vehicles
production of components for railway vehicles
repairs and modernizations of railway vehicles
production of stell constructions
