Kremikovtzi Corp. is designed and equipped with machines and technology for a complete metallurgical cycle - from the iron ore extraction to the finished products. The iron-containing raw materials are processed in the sintering machines. Then the charge (a mixture of sinter, coke, coal, etc.) is fed into the Blast furnace for the production of hot metal. Each furnace is equipped with transport, dosing and charging equipment as well as a gas cleaning system. The production of steel is performed in two ways - by converting in top-blown converters and in electric-arc-furnaces. In the Steel making plant there is a ladle furnace installation for preheating, alloying, refining, inert gas treatment and vacuum treatment. The steel is cast in ingots. Continuous steel casters for slabs will be put in operation during the coming months and that will change to a significant extent the treatment process. The rolling part of the company consists of a reversible Blooming - slabbing mill where the ingots are processed to blooms or slabs, Hot Strip Mill 1700 for HRC and a Wire Rod Mill. The production of cold rolled products takes place in the continuous Cold Rolling 5-stand Mill and 4-stand Mill. The steel products are annealed in the Box Furnaces and in the Continuous Annealing Line. There are also a Hot-Dip Galvanizing Line, Tinning Line and Pre-Painting Line. These lines have the capacity to produce profiled products. According to the strategy of Kremikovtzi Corp. the following has to be done: reconstruction of the Sintering machines; repair of BF No.3; modernization of EAF-3, together with a new bag filter for full collection of the emission; installation of an automatic process control system in the Hot Strip Mill, etc. The purpose is to increase the product quality, to reduce the production costs and widen the product range. Kremikovtzi Corp. possesses technical resources and skilled personnel for the finished product examination and testing. The Quality Assurance System is implemented in accordance with BDS EN ISO 9001:2000.
