About us

Company description

FOCUS AND DEDICATION TO AVIATION

"Tooling for wings" represents our business focus in the global aviation industry. Within the ATS-Group, ATS-Kleizen is the specialized company for tooling for aerostructure applications. We serve our customers worldwide with tooling solutions for stretch, composite, Glare®, milling, fixtures, jigs, specials etc.

In our new milling and assembly center in the Netherlands (Almelo), with 2 halls stretching across 5.000 m2 and two 16-ton cranes, we handle all operations from design to production in one competence center. Quite unique is our ability to manufacture large sizes with our modern NC 5-axes milling machines, of up to 15 meter (50 feet).

Engineering takes place with the help of CATIA Version 5 and Unigraphics. The full operation is ISO 9000 certified.

TOOLING

ATS-Kleizen is focused on LARGE tooling for the aerostructure industry. We design, engineer, manufacture and deliver high quality tooling for the manufacturing of aerostructure applications (skin panels, wing and flight controls), as well as tooling for:

Composite applications (Glare® and composite)
Fixtures for milling, drilling, riveting and assembly operations
Handling devices
Laser beam welding
We apply this across a wide range of materials: steel, Invar Aluminum, cast steel, cast aluminum, composite, wood, etc

Our operation is fully ISO 9000 certified.

GLARE® - STATE OF THE ART PARTNERS

ATS-Kleizen is the main partner in the development of lay-up tooling, milling tooling and proto type tooling to produce the ultra modern fiber metal laminate Glare®.

The single & double curved areas of the A380 skin panels need an accurate and light weight lay-up tool for positioning and autoclave operation. Our design office was able to set the standard tooling configuration for this new process. In addition, we can produce the lay-up and milling tooling for the doublers and butt-straps. The positioning for layers by the ATS designed vacuum system and the stability of the tool guarantees an optimal production cycle for many years to come.

  • ATS' ONGOING COMMITMENT TO R&D

ATS invests in tooling development in close co-operation with the Technical Universities of DELFT and TWENTE in the Netherlands. To meet new demands and requirements in the aviation industry, leading to new production methods, we invest in higher range tooling developments. Besides technical issues such as materials, weight and accuracy, all important business topics such as costs and lead-times like costs are investigated.

Tooling for laser beam welding is currently a hot topic. This technology will be introduced for the A380 by Airbus Germany. The tooling concepts of ATS-Kleizen have proven to be reliable and accurate for this technology. Seven new body panels (up to a length of 10.600 mm each) will be produced with laser beam welding of stringers to the body panel. Besides the speed (10 meter/min compared to 0.1 meter/min by automatic riveting), the next big advantage of laser beam welding is the cost and weight factor attached to the skin panel.
