CIMTAS is a world-class engineering, fabrication and erection company with global coverage incorporated in 1973 in Turkey as a fully owned subsidiary of ENKA.
Cimtas engineers and fabricates Pressure Vessels & Heat Exchangers, Power, Process and OEM Pipe Spools, Oil & Gas Cylindrical and Spherical Storage Tanks, Heat Recovery Steam Generators & Boilers, Machinery and Process Modules, Steel Wind Towers, Bridges, Penstock Pipes and Fittings and Steel Structures to ISO, ASME, API, CE requirements for demanding international customers.
Cimtas has recently received the Supplier of Year 2002 Excellence Award of General Electric Power Systems among its 15.000 suppliers, to whom it supplies machinery and bop piping, pressure vessels, plate work, machinery skid and process equipments.
CIMTAS fabrication activities are carried at three distinct locations Gemlik Works and Gemlik Pipe Shop in Turkey and Ningbo Shop in China, which are all equipped with the latest technology and same business processes. CIMTAS implements a comprehensive SHE policy to OHSAS 18001 standards which has a corporate brand name “Zero Accident” and logo.
The Gemlik Fabrication Works of CIMTAS, located 200 km away from Istanbul and within 2 km of international deep-sea ports, is built on 150.000 sqm fenced yard with 41.000 sqm shop space and 16 bays and has 25.000 ton annual production capacity. The Works are equipped with highest capacity CNC machines, automatic surface treatment and painting facilities and with the latest technology including highly automated and robotic welding, integrated and e-nabled QA/QC systems with ISO 9001:2000 certification, ASME S, U, U2, PP stamps and CE Marking, certified in house mechanical and macro-graphical testing lab, heat treatment furnaces as well as advanced erp, content management, business intelligence, communication, video-conf, internet and information systems.
The Gemlik Shop of CIMTAS Pipe, located within walking distance to Gemlik Works, is built on 25.000 sqm fenced yard with 10.000 sqm shop space, 7 bays, pickling, passivation and painting facilities and has 6.000 ton annual production capacity. This Shop is also equipped with the latest technology including highly automated and robotic welding, integrated and e-nabled QA/QC systems with ISO 9001:2000 certification, ASME S, PP stamps and CE Marking, heat treatment furnace as well as advanced erp, content management, business intelligence, communication, video-conf, internet and information systems. This ultra modern Pipe Shop has been designed, built and put into full operation by CIMTAS in just five months last August.
Ningbo Shop of CIMTAS in China has been incorporated as a fully owned subsidiary and put in full operation last December in just 5 months. At the 5,200 sqm manufacturing facility power and process pipe prefabrication started in December and process module assembly in March this year with an integrated Turkish-Chinese Team. In less than a year 50% local employment has been achieved. As of today some 40 Turkish managers, engineers and workers are working together with their respective Chinese counterparts in perfect harmony. The current target is to achieve 75% local employment by the end of this year. The construction of a 7,000 sqm extension to the existing shop started with a plan to make it operational by the end of this year. This Shop is also equipped with the latest technology including highly automated, integrated QA/QC systems with ISO 9001:2000 certification, as well as advanced ERP, content management, business intelligence, communication, video-conf, internet and information systems.
Cimtas also undertakes structural, mechanical and electrical installation of Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemical Plants, Oil & Gas Tank Farms, Bridges and Steel Structures to highest quality, consistently on time and with a systematic approach to safety.
Of particular relevance CIMTAS designed, fabricated and/or erected more than 155 nos of cylindrical tanks to store liquid oil products of fixed, dome, cone, floating, internal floating roof types totalling 8 million cum capacity to API standards, 50 nos of spherical tanks to store Propane totalling 200,000 cum capacity and 2 nos of Double Wall–Dome Type LNG tanks of 140,000 cum capacity each.
CIMTAS supplied over 300 nos of ASME Div 1 and 2 pressure vessels to Foster Wheeler, UOP, Bechtel, Fluor Parsons Daniel, KCC, Air Liquide, ABB Lummus, GE Hydro, Technip, etc and for owner/operators like BASF, Chevron, BP, British Gas, Mobil, AGIP, Tyumen Oil, Petrogal, NAOC, etc.
CIMTAS also undertakes structural, mechanical and electrical erection services with a firm commitment to safety and timely project completion. The erection range covers thermal and hydraulic power plants, petrochemical plants and refineries, tank farms, pump and compressor stations, industrial plants, cement plants, ammonia and fertiliser plants with an accumulated experience of over 650.000 ton installed both in Turkey and abroad.
CIMTAS’s Yearly Best Performance (2001) amounts to 25.000 tons of Fabrication at Gemlik Works and 75.000 tons of Erection with 3,000+ people mobilized at 9 local sites to the highest international standards, ahead of schedules and under a comprehensive “Zero Accident” safety program with a successful result of 4.2 million man-hours without “Lost Time Accident”.
