Company description

Casting activities in Diósgyõr including iron casting and pattern making and steel casting date back more than 225 years and nearly 115 years as for steel casting. The electric steel making was started more 85 years ago.

The Borsodi Metall Öntöde Kft. (Borsod Metall Foundry Ltd.) is one of the most important foundry companies in Hungary.

The international quality assurance system acc. to ISO 9002: 1994 EN ISO: 1994 MSZ EN 29002: 1992 accredited by the auditing Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance LTD is working at the foundry.

Main products of the foundry:

Steel: castings for metallurgy, engineering, mining, railways, public works in unalloyed and alloyed material, with a usual piece of 100-25.000 kgs, in special cases up to 50.000 kgs.

Iron castings: for metallurgy, engineering, energetics, public works in lamellar and spheroidal graphite and alloyed iron. Usual piece wieght is 100-30.000 kgs.

Foundry pattern: for casting in wood and plastic and other wooden products.

Semi finished products in special alloyed steel: steel ingots for rolling, forging and other kinds of forming. Usual piece weight of ingots is 300-25.000 kgs.

There is possibility for processing, priming and lacquering in cooperation.

Metallurgical production base:

2 basic arc furnaces with capacity of 18 tons each and

1 basic arc furnace with capacity of 3 tons.

Typical castings: slag ladles, gears, gea rings, running rings, rail roads parts, valve bodies, pump parts, rolling mill rolls, machinery castings, general machine parts.

The export is 30 % of the total income.

Main export markets: Sweden, Finland, Germany.
