About us

Company description

Assembléon develops, assembles, markets and distributes a diverse range of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) placement equipment and provides a broad range of related services. Assembléon, - formerly know as Philips Electronic Manufacturing Technology (EMT) -, is a 100% subsidiary of Royal Philips Electronics.
Assembléon ranks among the leaders in the design and maunfacture of surface-mount pick-and-place equipment for the global electronics industry.

Customers are Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), Original Design Manufacturers (ODM’s) and Contract Equipment Manufacturers (CEM’s), using Assembléon machines to place Surface Mount Devices and a great variety of electronic components, on Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). PCBs are used in most modern electronic applications, including mobile telephones, computers and consumer and automotive electronics

Assembléon Headquarters as well as the International Competence Center is based in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, and has a strong global presence with a broad network of sales and support offices in Asia-Pacific, USA and Europe.
Through this global company network, Assembléon can offer its customers direct support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Sales and Service centers
Next to products, a key success factor of the company are the strength of the regional Sales and Service centers, who’s close cooperation provides a full global sales and service network.
With an own highly skilled sales and support staff Assembléon is fully equipped to sell added value products and services needed in the High and Ultra High Volume market, while the agent network, build and managed carefully over the past decade, provides Assembléon with a strong, indirect sales force for the Medium Volume market.

The regional service organizations have regional call centers providing 7 days per week, 24 hours per day full service both on call basis and contract basis. In addition to Assembléon’s own service staff the company also manages directly an additional service staff at selected, certified service providers.
This complete service staff is trained regularly on the Assembléon products and gets additional training when new products are introduced to the market.

The regional sales and service centers are located in:

Atlanta, USA, covering the Americas network
Eindhoven, the Netherlands, covering Europe, Middle East and Africa, with sub offices in the most of West European countries
Hong Kong, covering Asia with a sub office in Singapore
Assembléon Research and Development
The Assembléon R&D activities are world class in the design of modular placement systems with optimum output/accuracy ratios.
This requires technological core competencies in the fields of:

- Integration of vision and motion technologies (“Mechatronics”).
- Application of optimization algorithms.
- Making architectures for platform based systems.
- Modeling and budgeting of system placement accuracy versus output.
- Applying industry standards and platforms.

To ensure these technological core competencies are constantly kept up to date, Assembléon entered into strategic partnerships with Universities, suppliers and other R&D organizations being world class in the above mentioned technology fields. To this respect , the Assembléon R&D Center is geographically well located (the Netherlands) in the Eindhoven area, being a hot spot of leading Mechatronics Research and Development.

Assembléon provides a productrange which covers any application and any volume demand in the electronics assembly industry.

For the low to medium volume segment Assembléon delivers with the GEM-XII placement machines versatile soultions to any mid-range production requirement.

With the in 2003 new launched A-Series Platform, Assembléon presents a new blueprint for manufacturing flexibility.
This revolutionary component pick- and placement platform leaves the competition far behind and definitely sets the standard of the way electronics manufacturers in the 45k cph to150k cph (IPC specification 30k cph to 100k cph) throughput range will be acquiring SMT production capacity over the next decade.

The new A-series platform anticipates the requirements of SMT manufacturers with a unique True-modularity TM concept which delivers low-cost entry, the capability to place up to 300 part numbers ranging from 0101 to odd forms, one-minute changeovers right from 30k to 100k cph, and the lowest cost per placement in the market.

The AX-5 and AQ-1 of the new A-series platform
The strength of the A-series is modularity where appropriate, specialization when required. Therefore it looks, feels and behaves as a single machine occupying a small footprint; yet it combines a number of best-in-class technologies, which enable it to provide the highest pick and place performance for every component to be placed.

In the A-series, computation and control power is distributed in each placement robot.
Demand and production capacity can therefor be seamlessly matched to each other. Instead of shifting machines to meet the production demand, and still facing over- or undercapacity, the A-Series exchanges placement modules in incremental steps of 7,500 components per hour. This is a major breakthrough in the field of electronic assembly.

Each placement head carries a board alignment camera. These advanced features have implications for throughput optimization, accuracy, and changeover times. Furthermore, because value resides in the robots, investment in production capacity is directly geared to demand.

Furthermore, Assembléon offers a broad productportfolio in excellent software, feeding solutions, consultancy and service and customer support in order to assure optimal machine output.
